Nacho Bear, a series of 2 minute cartoon shorts that Art Roche pitched last year as part of an in-house search, was selected by Cartoon Network. The shorts will make their “network debut” this Sunday, June 8, from 12:00-6:00 as part of a marathon of their regular cartoons.

The Comics Journal's "Journalista!" newsblog is reporting that MAD cartoonist Will Elder has passed away at age 86.

More than just the usual slackjawed bunch showed up at the stately intergalactic headquarters of Turner Broadcasting on Saturday, March 28, to judge the entries for the Newspaper Panel Reuben.

Asheville area Southeast Chapter member Orrin Lundgren's new book. Aimed at younger aspiring cartoonists this fun little book is now in bookstores. Look for Punchline Stickies: 100 Captions to leave behind due out in April.

The WNC group of the SECNCS had its monthly meeting at Frank's Roman Pizza on Tunnel Road in Asheville at 7pm Tuesday, June 5. In attendance were; Steve Haynie, Orrin Lundgren, Matt Mulder, Phil Hawkins, James Cassara, Michael Cole, and James and Karin Lyle. The group passed around various new projects along with the usual gossip.

The title of the new monthly publication is Out Of The Boxx and is being produced by the team of Joyce and Ladd Miller of CA. The Miller's formerly published ProTooner for many years.
