The Asheville group (serving western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and East Tennessee as much as possible) announces a day of "Shop Talk" to be held from 10am - 3pm, Saturday August 16, 2008 at the Montford Community Center, 34 Pearson Drive, Asheville, NC. Marcus Hamiton is scheduled to present his powerpoint presentation on "How a Dennis the Menace Daily Cartoon is Constructed" (along with some career highlights. Also scheduled to appear are Asheville area artists associated with the SECNCS: Kaysha Siemens (on Digital Illustration), Matt Mulder (Prepress Coloring Techniques), Phil Hawkins (on Freelance Contracts), and James E. Lyle (Brainstorming a Superhero). The event is open to the public, and all SECNCS members who'd like to attend are more than welcome.
